To bring everyone up to speed, I spoke to Cate and Veronica on Wednesday to discuss with them the group’s concern and frustrations. Overall, it was a productive call, however, they voiced their concern that some members weren’t checking in, getting their temperature checked and signing up for the “class.” I assured them we’ll do our best to make sure members of the Xfit group will check in and take the necessary steps to log in correctly. I voiced our frustration on the tattling of other instructors as well as other members. They acknowledged this and made mention that they are getting several emails/calls each day from those who feel it’s necessary to police others. It’s not just our group but everyone seems to be getting told on. I asked about the masks while working out inside and they wouldn’t budge on allowing us to not wear them. Again, not the Y’s policy but the State Order that’s in place. They agreed with me that it’s difficult to wear a mask during cardio exercises and the potential for injury and/or accident increases and said they wouldn’t see it as a violation if a mask was pulled down or removed to catch ones breath or drink some water temporarily. As the weather turns we are welcomed back into the big gym and can store the equipment back in the closet. The biggest take-away was if we check in and sign up consistently then we shouldn’t be a burden. They realize our “class” is different from others but truly appreciate our membership and are open to further conversation to make it a good experience for everyone.
